About Us

Children attending Montessori Explorer will be exposed to the Montessori Method, which will facilitate the growth of inner discipline and later complex reasoning through the free choice and organized use of didactic materials within an atmosphere conducive to these ends. The school provides an “Individualized Education” in all areas of the program. Opportunities are provided for students to achieve knowledge and self-worth through freedom to learn in a way that respects their individual needs. We strive to equip our children in their whole being for the adventure of life, use of the free exercise of will and judgment, enlightened by imagination and enthusiasm.

Our Philosophy
During the first years of life - from birth to age six, the intellectual and physical development of children is unparalleled, and the desire to learn and know will never be more intense. We believe...
- That the development of young children is largely influenced by the degree of intellectual, physical, emotional, and social stimulation in their environment.
- That the children should be exposed to a literacy rich environment with a variety of books available to be read at any given time. Early exposure to reading and language skills is essential for children.
- That children learn through play, exploration, hands-on observation, and music through positive feedback from the adults who influence them, who are primarily their parents and teachers.
- That children should be provided a safe, happy, organized and clean atmosphere, to learn at their own pace from everything they see, hear, taste, touch and smell.
- That unhurried, non-threatening, non-competitive, non-judgmental learning experiences with lots of encouragement and positive rewards are the most effective methods for the growth and development of young children.
- That a child who experiences “success” will see him/herself as competent and that enhanced self-esteem increases the desire to learn.
- That the curriculum should be age appropriate and have a balance between academic and play in order to prepare the young children for Kindergarten.
