Parents

Welcome to our Montessori family. We welcome each and every one of you warmly and look forward to a long lasting partnership in your child’s development. Here are few helpful hints to assist you and your child’s school experience smooth and pleasant.

MONTHLY LEARNING UNITS – Please refer to the packet that you received during enrollment.

HUMAN VALUES AND PEACE CURRICULUM – Each month you will receive information of what our topic of discussion is and lesson ideas to work with your child.

COMMUNITY SERVICE – Please check with our classroom teachers what our ongoing community projects are and in what level you and your child can participate.

SHARING – Primary classroom sharing is every FRIDAY. Your child can bring in an educational item such as a book, puzzle, and musical instrument from another culture or any souvenir or vacation memorabilia for sharing. We do not allow TOYS during sharing and if your child brings a toy to school for sharing it will be kept out of the classroom until the child takes it home in the evening. Children are collecting loose change in a “Piggy Bank” to use in one of their community involvement projects. If your child is in the Primary classroom please contact your teacher if you are interested in participating in this project.

CALENDAR – Always refer to the school calendar to inform you of school closures. During the year we have few MINIMUM days where the school closes right after end of full day program and on those days we do not offer evening childcare.

INTERNATIONAL DAY – As an authentic Montessori school we do not believe children in our Primary program are ready for fantasy, make believe and other English literature stories such as Shakespeare as these are suited for the upper elementary program in the Montessori curriculum. However, if you choose to send your child dressed on our “International Day” October 30th (Friday) or on during our “Thanksgiving Feast” day (Primary classroom only) please make sure the costumes are only limited to a well known person who has contributed to the human development and advancement. (Examples – Mari Currie, Maria Montessori, Martin Luther King Jr., Neal Armstrong, George Washington etc.) Our Pre-Primary classroom children will not participate in the International Day or the Thanksgiving Feast dress-up activities as it is not age appropriate for this age group. Primary classroom children will parade their costumes during that day.

EARTHQUAKE KITS – Parents, it is very important that you provide the school with the Earthquake kits as instructed in your admissions packet. In the event we need you use these kits your child will have the necessary supplies that is needed to keep them comfortable and well sustained until you arrive to pick them up. All Earthquake kits are stored in a temperature controlled storage facility next to our emergency triage location. Please check with the school Director where this location is.

CONTACT INFORMATION – Please remember to give the most current contact information to the office. We request you to fill up all the forms including the “Photo Permission Form” and “Parent Information Form” as these are very useful forms that assures we are able to be in touch with you at all times with regard to your child’s safety and development.
